The Life Aquatic:
Internationally famous oceanographer Steve Zissou (Bill Murray) and his crew - Team Zissou - set sail on an expedition to hunt down the mysterious, elusive, possibly nonexistent Jaguar Shark that killed Zissou's partner during the documentary filming of their latest adventure. They are joined on their voyage by a young airline co-pilot who may or may not be Zissou's son, a beautiful journalist assigned to write a profile of Zissou, and his estranged wife and co-producer, Eleanor. They face overwhelming complications including pirates, kidnapping and bankruptcy. The Royal Tenebaums:
Hilarious, touching and totally original comedy about a dysfunctional family's sudden, unexpected reunion. The Royal Tenebaums tells the story of Royal Tenebaum (Gene Hackman) and his wife Etheline who had three child prodigies before they separated - Chas, a real estate trader in his early teens - Richie, a junior champion tennis player, and Margot, who received a $50,000 grant for her ninth grade play. Virtually all memory of the brilliance of the young Tenebaums was subsequently erased by two decades of betrayal, failure and disaster. Most of this was generally considered to be their father's fault. The Royal Tenebaums with its' outstanding all star cast and darkly humorous plot is set to be an instant classic.
Rushmore:
Rushmore is the story of a gifted, rebellious teenager named Max Fischer (Jason Schwartzman), a 10th grader at elite Rushmore Academy. Editor of the school newspaper, captain or president of innumerable clubs and societies, Max is also one of the worst students in the school, and the threat of expulsion hangs permanently over his head.
Max's world is rocked when he falls for elegant 1st grade teacher Miss Cross, and finds himself competing for her affections with his friend, steel tycoon Mr. Blume, the wealthy father of two of his classmates.
