The lack of suicide notes convinces Holmes that these are murders 'There's something uncanny about them - monstrous and horrible'. Holmes discovers that the victims all liked to gamble and disguises himself as an Indian officer and at a posh London Casino where he meets the fascinating Andrea Spedding whom he is convinced is behind the killings.
The Scarlet Claw
The villagers of the tiny hamlet of La Morte Rouge are terrified; a legendary glowing monster has reappeared. In the nearby fog shrouded marshes, sheep have been found dead, their throats cut. The body of Lady Penrose is discovered in the village church with her neck ripped open. Meanwhile Lord Penrose is addressing a meeting of the Royal Canadian Occult Society and to our surprise Holmes and Watson are in attendance, the meeting is called to a halt when Lord Penrose hears of his wife's death.
