The accolades were numerous and justified for this brilliant 1987 miniseries that chillingly laid bare the darkest excesses of a culture of greed; Judd Nelson won a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance, with Brian Macnamara nominated for Best Supporting Role as Dean Karny, Hunt’s former best friend who also acts as narrator throughout. There were also Emmy nominations for Ron Silver – as the flamboyant Beverly Hills con artist, Ron Levin, whom Hunt courts with disastrous consequences – along with director Marvin J. Chomsky and writer Gy Waldron.
