'Weather Systems' is the eagerly awaited ninth studio album by the severely under-appreciated English doom metal band Anthema. This record is the follow up to their critically acclaimed eighth studio album 'We're Here Because We're Here', which was released in 2010.
Anthema specialise in a very distinctive style of music that they have formed and moulded into their own ever evolving signature sound, fusing and blending the elements of doom metal with atmospheric rock, and everything inbetween. The band have noted the album 'Weather Systems' as being "not background music for parties. The music is written to deeply move the listener", taking into consideration the intelligent lyrics and use of melody for a more atmospheric and mood-setting effect within the songs. This is also found within the internal themes occurring throughout the entirety of 'Weather Systems', as Anthema play upon the idea of polar opposites such as birth and death, light and dark, etc., leaving a record fraught with double meanings and emotive notions.
