Meet the Parents
Greg Focker (Ben Stiller) feels he is ready to take his relationship with his girlfriend, Pam Byrnes (Teri Polo), to the next level and propose to her. Greg soon finds out that Pam’s overbearing father Jack (Robert De Niro) appreciates to be consulted before anyone marries into their family. When Pam decides to pay a visit to her parents it gives Greg a perfect chance to get to know them and hopefully earn the respect of Jack. Upon arriving at the Byrnes’ household Greg instantly feels the pressure from Jack and is soon put to a tense test. Jack must decide whether Greg has what it takes to be in the family’s ‘circle of trust’ and starts to prod and probe him as much as he can. Matters are worsened when Greg finds out Jack is secretly a retired member of the CIA. Hilarious comedy co-starring Owen Wilson and Blythe Danner.
Meet the Fockers
As Greg (Ben Stiller) and Pam’s (Teri Polo) wedding is approaching Jack (Robert De Niro) and Dina (Blythe Danner) decide it’s time for them to meet Greg’s parents as they will all soon be family. For Dina it’s a chance to get to know them, for ex-CIA agent Jack, it’s a chance to investigate them and see if they belong in the ‘Circle of Trust’.
Greg’s parents Bernie (Dustin Hoffman) and Rosalind (Barbara Streisand) are somewhat eccentric. Bernie is a retired lawyer who now studies martial arts and Rosalind is a sex therapist for the elderly. Greg asks them to tone down their wild personalities while Jack and Dina are staying with them, but this isn’t an easy task for them. Soon enough Jack is up to his usual tricks and sniffing around for ‘skeletons’ in Greg’s closet. As Jack clashes with Bernie and Roz, Greg and Pam’s relationship begins to feel the strain and their marriage is possibly in jeopardy.
Little Fockers
Greg (Ben Stiller) and Pam (Teri Polo) are now happily married with two children, Greg has a successful career and is firmly in the ‘circle of trust’. After a faint heart attack, Jack (Robert De Niro) starts to worry who will fill his role as the family patriarch when he dies. Jack and Dina (Blythe Danner) decide to pay Greg and Pam a visit which gives Jack the perfect opportunity to once again put Greg to the ultimate test and see if he has what it takes to be the ‘GodFocker’.
Problems soon arise when Jack becomes suspicious of Greg’s relationship with his work colleague Andi (Jessica Alba) and Pam’s eccentric ex-boyfriend Kevin (Owen Wilson) shows up with a broken heart. Will Jack let Greg step into his shoes and will their feud finally come to an end? -M.F.
